Goalball is a Paralympic sport designed specifically for the visually impaired. Played indoors on a volleyball-sized court, all participants wear sleep shades so even sighted participants can play with no advantage over their visually impaired peers. With teams of three people on each end of the court, the objective is to use your body to block a clanging ball from getting past you. A keen sense of hearing and teamwork make this a fun way for visually impaired teens and adults to enjoy athletic competition.
Our recreational league is open to anyone ages 12 and up who is visually impaired, whether you have played before or not.
Cost including all five goal ball sessions is $20
Participants are encouraged to bring their own volleyball style elbow and knee pads (we will have some to borrow if you don’t have your own.)
Playing in the league is a prerequisite to playing for the Outlook Mavericks Under-19 national competitive goal ball team we hope to start this May and travel to the youth national goalball tournament in November.
