From adaptive technology training that teaches anyone who is blind or visually impaired how to navigate computers and use the latest apps to teen summer camps that build confidence. From tactile art workshops that turn you into the painter to audio descriptions of live performances and events. From bowling leagues to tandem bike clubs to a golf academy that allow you to socialize and become active. Our Enrichment Programs deliver a variety of tools, events and clubs that will allow you to try something new or continue doing the things you love in spite of vision loss.

Adaptive Technology

Computer & Mobile Device Training

Learn to independently use your computer to pay bills, check email, read the paper and so much more. If mobile devices interest you, we’ll teach you to unlock their potential with their embedded functions along with the latest apps.

Digital Eyewear Demonstrations

Digital Eyewear helps those with some vision capacity see the world more clearly. This is a great opportunity to learn about the different digital eyewear devices that are currently available to you, how they work, their benefits and limitations, and how they will meet your specific needs and lifestyle.

Youth Recreation Programs

Youth Recreation Programs

Once a month we host recreational activities that engage kids and encourage teamwork. During the month of July, we team up with Boys Town in offering a week-long residential, sports oriented summer camp that allows blind or visually impaired children, ages 9-19, be just kids.

Tandem Bike Club

If you are blind or visually impaired and want to go on a bike ride, this is your club. Experience the wind gliding across your face as your heart races and your legs pedal during a tandem bike ride. You will be partnered with a sighted volunteer who will help steer you on the bike trail and into an overwhelming sense of freedom. Rides take place monthly, weather permitting.

Adult Recreation

Once a month we host recreational activities that allow blind and visually impaired adults continue doing what they love. Basketball, goalball, golf and more.

Bowling League

You don’t need sight to make friends, have fun and knock down a few pins. Our bowling league is open to blind and visually impaired individuals who would like to join a great group of people cheering on one another, though there might be a little friendly competition. No bowling experience (or bowling shirts) necessary.

Ever heard of Goalball? It’s a paralympic sport designed specifically for the visually impaired. It’s played indoors with all participants wearing sleep shades — even the sighted players. Your goal is to roll a ball with a bell attached past the defender’s line. It’s fun, competitive and gets you moving.
Stanley M. Truhlsen, Jr. Blind Golfer Clinic

Stanley M. Truhlsen, Jr. Blind Golfer Clinic

Learn to chip, putt and swing from local golf pros who’ve been instructed on how to guide visually impaired golfers in the game. This clinic is designed for all skill levels, from those who’ve always wanted to play, to those who are ready to take their clubs out of storage and onto the course.

Please Touch the Art Workshops

Please Touch the Art Workshops

In collaboration with the University of Nebraska Omaha, we offer workshops that challenge the notion of “look, but don’t touch the art.” Under the instruction of art professors experienced in instructing the blind and visually impaired, you will use your senses to create your masterpiece.
Live Performances with Audio Description

Live Performances with Audio Description

Attend a live performance or a sporting event and experience every action with audio description. Through an earpiece, you will receive verbal description of what is happening on stage or on the field. Visual elements, scenery, defensive plays — take it all in.
